Theology Pub
Theology Pub is a new outreach and fellowship ministry of Asbury United Methodist Church. Theology Pub started during the summer of 2009 and has been an exciting new opportunity for deep theological conversations in casual and welcoming environments. The idea behind Theology Pub is that people really do yearn for deep theological conversations about things that matter to them - but for some, unfortunately, the church isn't the first place they think about as a place to have those conversations.
Our hope is that we might be able to facilitate those deep conversations in environments that are casual, welcoming and places that people in Livermore generally hang out. We have been blessed to have been warmly received by staff at both the First Street Alehouse and The Riata Tavern. We've met throughout the past six months, and we've had discussions about:
- Evangelism
- Pluralism
- Rethinking Church
- Interfaith Dialogue and Relations, with special guest Rabbi Rick Winer from Congregation Beth Emek
- Social Justice & Activism, with special guest Rachel Goble-Cary, Executive Director of The Sold Project
We are excited for our future conversations and guests that we might have join us for some fellowship and theological dialogue.
