Community Trick or Treat Fun & Games Outdoor Event Sunday, October 31 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Asbury UMC with fellowship, games, food, a balloon twister, DJ Stevie G (email [email protected] your church appropriate song requests), a craft, trick or treating experiences in the West parking lot, plus a contest for the Golden Mask, and everyone wearing a Covid-19 protection mask at the event.

  • Offer a trick or treat experience for children and youth from a kid friendly and not too scary decorated car, truck, tailgate, card table… in an assigned parking spot in the west parking lot. If you would like to be assigned a parking spot number in the west parking lot to provide a trick or treat experience from 2:45 p.m. set up time to 4:45 p.m. close down-time email the officeVoting will take place for the best trick or treating station and the prize of the Golden Mask will be awarded at 4:45 p.m.
  • Can’t offer a trick or treating experience? You can still donate bags of candy to provide back-up candy for the trick or treating stations. Please drop off your bagged candy to the church office during the week or the sanctuary entryway on Sunday mornings.  If you have questions, please contact the church office at 925-447-1950.

General Sunday School Information

  • Childcare for ages 0 to 4 offered in our nursery during worship service on Sundays. Everyone will be temperature checked upon entry and ages 2 and older will wear a mask. Worship service is livestreamed to the nursery.
  • Bible Storytime during the sermon children ages 4 and older have the opportunity to go into the courtyard to hear a Bible story and explore what the story could be telling us today. This takes place during our worship service’s sermon, with everyone wearing a mask, and children are welcome to bring a parent/guardian with them if they’d like to.
  • Children are welcomed to attend worship service with their parent/guardian
    • If you have an extra wiggly child, we have a comfort room in the back of the sanctuary you are welcome to use at anytime. It has a sound system, a large window, a couch, and play items.
  • Online Sunday School in a Zoom Room on Sundays at 11am.  Email Jackie through the church office to be added to our email list to receive our weekly Children’s Ministry paper containing the Zoom link to attend.
    • We are passionate about providing a loving, accepting, and caring environment for the children of our community and their families as they connect to the presence of God. Our focus is to be centered in Jesus Christ, grow in our faith together, as we celebrate community, and serve others with love.
    • We use Bible-centered curriculum which studies the Old and New Testaments. Curriculum series we have explored and discussed together include: ‘A Joyful Path’, ‘An Illustrated Compassion: Learning to Love Like God’, ‘An Illustrated Earth: Celebrating God’s Creation’, ‘An Illustrated Invitation: Joining God at Work in the World’, ‘The Lord’s Prayer an Illustrated Curriculum’, ‘Travel Guide to the Parables’ and ‘Travel Guide to Fruit of the Spirit’ and meeting a new person in a story Bible each week.
    • Every school year we learn about stewardship and raise money for organizations like Open Heart Kitchen, Fertile Groundworks, UMCOR, The Taylor Foundation, Alameda County Food Bank, Partners for Change, Habitat for Humanity, Tri-Valley Haven, the Backpack Project, and participate in an age appropriate hands on service projects like working in the Fertile Groundworks Garden, packing food at a Rise Against Hunger Event, painting play houses for Habitat for Humanity, putting together boxes for Open Heart Kitchen and packing backpacks for the Backpack Project.
  • Parent Meet-Up Group we have a small group for parents of school-age children. Join us the fourth Sunday of every month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in a Zoom Room. This is a hangout for getting acquainted and talking about family and faith. Please invite friends and neighbors! We plan to meet as families in person outside at church once all are comfortable being together. In the meantime, we will get acquainted on Zoom. Mothers and/or father’s welcome.   • Prayerful Meditation Group meets online in a Zoom Room on Sundays at 8:15 a.m. We begin our time together reading a short devotion or scripture, prayerfully meditate for 25-minutes, and end with an optional fellowship time.  Beginning October 31st we will read one of Jesus’ Parables before meditating.  Email Jackie for more information or the Zoom Room link.
