Help with Tri-Valley Haven Thanksgiving Food Distribution

Asbury UMC will be hosting the Thanksgiving food distribution sponsored by Tri-Valley Haven.  Each year, TVH provides food at Thanksgiving to homeless and low-income families.  It is a wonderful way to help those families that might be challenged to have a Thanksgiving Dinner.

Our first task will be to help register families for this event at the Tri-Valley Haven Food Pantry, 418 Junction Avenue, Livermore on November 7th and 9th.  Shifts are: 12:45-2:45pm or 2:30-4:45pm.

The second thing we have is the actual distribution of the food bags for Thanksgiving.  This involves handing out bags of food to families who have preregistered to receive one.  This will be at Asbury on Monday, November 20th.  We need two volunteers for each of the following shifts: 9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 2:30pm-4:30pm and 4:30pm-6:00pm.

You will be working with other volunteers and TVH staff at our church.

  1. Hello,
Wondering if you have any more assistance for Thanksgiving or Christmas? I have a family who was unable to make it today but are in need of assistance. If you have any leftover cans they will definitely benefit from this.

    • Dear Jes,
While the Thanksgiving food bags have all been distributed, I do have suggestions for the coming weeks and Christmas. Open Heart Kitchen serves meals at Asbury on Mondays 3:30-5:30pm; and Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-6pm. The family you mentioned can take food home. If the family is on campus, please have them stop by the church office so we can meet them and hear more about their situation.
Tri Valley Food Pantry is also a great option. They are at 718 Junction Avenue in Livermore.
