Opportunities to Serve
Are you looking for a way to serve at Asbury? Volunteers are so vital to the life of our church and community. Listed below are just a few of the ways we can use your gifts and talents. Call the church office at (925) 447-1950 or send us an email and let us know what God is calling you to do. Your participation matters and is greatly appreciated.
Memorial Reception Team – Led by Nancy Grover
These receptions are so important to the families that are going through this very difficult time. There are several ways that you can help, and you can choose something that fits your time schedule. Providing food – baked goods, fruit or veggie tray
Set up – putting out tables, tablecloths and dishes
Prep – making coffee and plating food
Serving – keeping an eye on things during the reception
Clean up – washing dishes and putting away food
Greeters – Led by Tim Evans
Greeters welcome parishioners and guests as they arrive at church. Duties include handing out worship and children’s bulletins. A warm smile and a friendly handshake go a long way in making people feel welcome and comfortable. This job is not every week but rather on a rotating schedule.
Ushers – Led by Ray Spooner and Nancy Grover
This job is very important especially when the service is very full. Ushers are able to politely ask others to make additional seating available and guide people to those seats. Helping with walkers, canes and other devices may be required.
Pew Organizers – Led by Mitchie McCammon
Pew organizers are needed to straighten bibles and hymnals each Sunday following worship. Restocking tissues, handouts, and sharpening and replacing pencils may also be required. Occasionally we need people to organize the pews following special events such as concerts and plays.
Miscellaneous Jobs – Led by Mitchie McCammon
Periodically we have a need for volunteers who can be called to do anything from picking up trash around the campus to cleaning out closets to assisting with plumbing or electrical. If you have a skill for organizing, like to DIY projects, or just want to do something different, this is your place. These are short-term or single event projects.
For information or to volunteer, contact the church office by email or phone (925) 447-1950.
