This is an occasional column exploring a Bible passage.

“Lord when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink?” Matthew 25: 37

In the Gospels, Matthew 25 is the only description we have of judgment following our deaths. (All other references to living in the Kingdom of God, the Presence of God, are of feasts and parties and banquets.) Matthew 25 makes it clear: what does it mean to be a “saved” people? The test and the answers are plainly listed right here! When you see someone in hunger, feed them! When you see someone in prison, don’t let them suffer in isolation&emdash;visit them, for God’s sake!
