Welcome to our new Laundry and Shower Staff

Several months ago, Asbury was approached by the City of Livermore. They had received a HEAP grant to increase services to the homeless/unsheltered in our community. After researching a variety of options, the City came to the conclusion that the best and most effective way to increase services was to partner with existing groups working in that area. So the City asked Asbury if the City funded the expenses would we expand to three days week so they the shower and laundry could be open with Open Heart Kitchen is here. After consulting with our Trustees and Church Council, we said yes!  As is usual with these kind of things, it took awhile to work out all the details but we persevered and on November 4, we expanded to three days a week. We have hired three staff to work the shower and  laundry on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon: Tina Williams, Johnny Dela Rosa and Rachel Supnet staff pic. Terri Gamble, Pastor Chelsea and Pastor Kathy supervise and meet with them regularly.  Many of our guests have shared their great appreciation for being able to share a meal, take showers and do laundry all at one location.  Our shower and laundry ministry is one of the many ways we are walking in the Way of Jesus.
