Worship in September

September 6: Communion Sunday
Sermon Series: Journey with the Stars: Hagar’s Story
Scripture Genesis 21: 14-20a
Hagar was mistreated, yet God did not abandon her. God hears our cries, and the cries of our children, providing sustenance for our journey. The Sacrament of Holy Communion, open to all, reminds us that God sustains us as well.
We will also introduce our new hymn books, Worship and Song.

September 13: Kick Off Sunday: Sunday School Program Begins
Third Grade Bibles Presented
Blessing of the Sunday School Teachers
Sermon Series: Journey with the Stars: Sarah’s Transformation
Scripture Genesis 17: 15-20
Sarah lived with a promise from God for 13 years….the promise that she would be a mother. How to remain hopeful when the answer to our deepest desires, our prayers, are not immediately experienced? What prayer for yourself, and for the world around us, have you been cherishing? We will explore how Sarah’s story relates to our days, here and now.

September 20

Sermon Series: Journey with the Stars: The Wickedness of Sodom

Scripture Genesis 19:1-11

We conclude our journey with Abraham and his family with the infamous story of Sodom.  It is a story that has permitted our culture, but what really was the sin of Sodom?  How does how we welcome strangers shape who we are?
